Acalypha wilkesiana (Copperleaf 'Kona Gold')
Acalypha wilkesiana Kona Gold is a variety of copperleaf that has large leaves splashed and dotted with green, yellow, and white. It is a little more compact and well behaved than many other related varieties of copperleaf, so it doesn't require as much pruning. In tropical conditions, it will quickly form a mound 4 feet tall and wide. It is the only copperleaf we've grown that doesn't change color at all in the winter. The flowers are not showy, but they are interesting. It likes ordinary to rich soil, full sun or a little afternoon shade and moderate to regular water. It is very easy to grow from cuttings, in sandy soil or in water. It is a tender tropical plant, winter hardy outdoors only in zones 9-11.
